Sambear talks to Dell Tech Support...
Deontrey: "Thank you for patiently waiting. You have reached Dell Hardware Warranty Chat Support. My name is Deontrey and I will be assisting you today. In order for me to help you, can you provide details about the issue you’re having?"
Sam Chupp: "Deontrey! how are you?"
Sam Chupp: "I hope well."
Sam Chupp: "This Latitude D505 has a very definite problem."
Deontrey: "I am fine."
Deontrey: "How are you."
Sam Chupp: "There is a green line that starts at the top of the screen and runs top to bottom. The line appears to be about four inches from the right hand side on the screen. it is present no matter what else is displayed."
Deontrey: "I apologize about the issue that you are having with the screen on the display, however, I will do my best to resolve the issue for you."
Sam Chupp: "Thank you Deontrey."
Sam Chupp: "I really look forward to seeing this laptop repaired and back in working order."
Sam Chupp: "So, I am very much hoping you have good news for me."
Sam Chupp: "Do you think I might have the expectation of being satisfied by this time, say, 15 minutes from now?"
Deontrey: "Sam, have you chatted with Dell about this issue before?"
Sam Chupp: "You know, Deontrey, this is the first time we've talked about it. My end-user here is a Program Manager. They brought it to me today and left it with the help desk."
Deontrey: "Before we begin, can I have you to verify the company name or name of the owner of the system please? Also are you chatting about the Latitude D 505 listed on your account?""
Sam Chupp: "They seemed upset about it."
Sam Chupp: "This is (place of employ), and it's a Latitude D505, yes. The service tag number, as I entered it in the initial screen, is (hidden)"
Sam Chupp: "It's difficult to believe this is anything but a hardware-related problem, Deontrey."
Sam Chupp: "The owner of the machine is (place of employ)"
Deontrey: "Thank you for verifying."
Sam Chupp: "That's my pleasure, Deontrey."
Deontrey: "Are you chatting on the system with the issue on it now?"
Sam Chupp: "You know, I'm not chatting on that system as I deem it somewhat unreliable at this juncture."
Sam Chupp: "What I am hoping, Deontrey, is that you will send out a nice gentleman, or a nice lady, who will replace the screen here, for my Program Manager."
Sam Chupp: "Do you think that would be a plan you could get behind?"
Sam Chupp: "I'm hoping that is the case."
Deontrey: "I will see."
Sam Chupp: "OK, Deontrey. Just let me know what I may do to assist you."
Sam Chupp: "I'm still with you, are you still there Deontrey?"
Deontrey: "Yes."
Deontrey: "Give me 3-5 minutes to research this issue for you."
Sam Chupp: "That's fine, Deontrey, I'm more than willing to wait 3 to 5 minutes."
Deontrey: "Thank you for holding."
Deontrey: "have you ran any diagnostics on the system yet?"
Sam Chupp: "You know, Deontrey, I haven't, because it's such a consistent green line, that doesn't every go away no matter what I do, that I did not think it would be a problem to merely have the LCD panel replaced."
Sam Chupp: "I'm hoping you will, also, agree."
Deontrey: "I will need you to run a diagnostics on the system to see if the hardware is failing or if it a software issue."
Sam Chupp: "Deontrey, what diagnostic would you like?"
Sam Chupp: "My eye diagnostic tells me that there is a green line that is permanently on the screen. This is a hardware failure."
Deontrey: "I will need yo to run the psa diagnostics on the system and also the 32 bit diagnostics."
Sam Chupp: "Can you give me a link to these fine, worthy softwares?"
Deontrey: "sire."
Deontrey: "I meant sure."
Sam Chupp: "Deontrey, I stand ready to receive that information."
Sam Chupp: "Of course you did."
Deontrey sends page: (long url that leads to a video driver)
Sam Chupp: "Deontrey, why in the world would I want to ru n an IDE diagnostic on the machine, when it is a monitor failure?"
Sam Chupp: "Why would you ask me to do such a time-wasteful thing?"
Deontrey: "This is the information that we are showing in the records."
Deontrey: "Sorry about this."
Deontrey: "Because we need to know for sure that the monitor is failing by our test that we have our clients to run."
Sam Chupp: "This is fairly ridiculous, but I suppose if this is the only way we can hold your company to their agreement that they will repair the machine, then I suppose I will."
Sam Chupp: "The PSA test is for the hard drive, Deontrey."
Sam Chupp: "But OK."
Deontrey: "The extended diagnostics test everything.."
Deontrey: "In order to get to the extended test on the system you will have to run the psa."
Sam Chupp: "That page you sent isn't even a page about the testing. It's a driver page."
Deontrey: "I know."
Deontrey: "You asked about the software and I gave you the link to resolve the issue if it was software- related. Otherwise to perform the diagnostics, you will have to restart the system and power it back on by pressing fn and the power button on the system.\"
Sam Chupp: "OK, one moment."
Sam Chupp: "The tests are proceeding, Deontrey"
Deontrey: "Ok.Ok. The extended will take about 35 minutes so I will need you to chat back in with the issue."
Deontrey: "I will give you the case number for the issue?"
Sam Chupp: "Sure, Deontrey, go ahead"
Deontrey: "Sam\, it has been a great pleasure working with you today. I'm going to send you some important information for your records. I apologize for its lengthiness. Let me know if you have any questions about it."
Sam Chupp: "You know, Deontrey, I can't help but be frustrated and feel as though you aren't listening to me."
Deontrey: "Please use these numbers for future questions on this issue: case #(case number)
Sam Chupp: "But, you know what? I'll run your tests, and we'll go from there. I know what the problem is. I've seen this failure time and time again."
Deontrey: "I am listening to you Sam."
Sam Chupp: "Except that you're stuck in some kind of automaton-like clinging to some sort of corporate 3-ring binder which does not bring into the equation the basic idea of common sense."
Sam Chupp: "And I don't blame you for that; I realize you are compelled to do so by your boss."
Deontrey: "For future reference, a copy of this chat will be sent to the email you provided as you entered the chat."
Sam Chupp: "However, I feel that this is needlessly complex."
Deontrey: "If you need further assistance with this case, you may contact us via
Deontrey: "I am constantly striving to improve my service. If there is anything I can do to help improve your experience, please don't hesitate to let me know by contacting my manager via email
Sam Chupp: "No worries, then, do enjoy your weekend Deontrey."
Deontrey: "I apologize Sam."
Sam Chupp: "Hey, as I said, I don't blame you."
Deontrey: "I appreciate it."
Deontrey: "Is there anything else I can help you with today?"
Sam Chupp: "Farewell."
Sam Chupp: "Nope."

Second Life and the Amazing Potential for...
Had some interesting things happen to me lately. It’s well known about me that I have a much wider range of size acceptance in the females I find attractive than many people - if you want to know more, I’ll talk your ear off, but that’s not the point of this post: suffice it to say that I have a fondness for curvy women that not many other people share in this skinny-focused society. I find...
